Feature Friday: Becca Blake
Meredith Gradle • July 15, 2016

Hi there! I’m Becca Blake. I live in a small town just east of Kansas City with my husband & high school sweetheart, Dennis, and our two mini-me kiddos. I grew up as a military brat and have the wanderlust gene to prove it, and I love to be creative, whether that’s in the form of photography, painting, sewing, calligraphy or random DIY projects.

I fell in love with photography at around age 10 when I got my first 35mm camera, and once I got my hands on a Polaroid there was no putting it down! I was enamored with the ability to freeze moments in time, maybe in part because I have a terrible memory! When my daughter was born, my husband gave me my first DSLR, and as cliche as it is, that is when I really started to get serious about photography.

I specialize in wedding & engagement photography and am transitioning into product photography for creative small businesses. While I absolutely love photographing weddings, my favorite aspect by far is shooting the details. I love the styling aspect it brings and the freedom to be creative with each shot. Eventually I was asked by a few creatives in my area to do some brand photography for them and I loved it so much I decided to make a full blown business pivot. As someone who thrives on change, I love the variety and challenges it brings. And having weekends off is pretty awesome too!

Some fun facts about me:

I’ve lived in 12 states and in Germany twice.
I LOVE ice cream. A lot.
I’ve never had a cavity and I have 20/20 vision.
I dream of traveling the world and have a heart for mission work.

Be sure to check out more of Becca’s work!
